Pench Shared Safari: Single Seats and the Mini Bus
The short answer
Pench has two budget options on the MP side. Single-seat permits let you share a Gypsy with other visitors, and an 18-seater mini bus runs from Turia gate at ₹510 per person (per the reserve's FAQ, booked at the gate). A private Gypsy costs roughly ₹10,100 on weekdays, about ₹1,683 each across six people. Night safaris in MP's buffers were stopped in 2022.

Single-seat Gypsy permit
Book one seat and share the Gypsy with other visitors. It's sold online on MPOnline and, for current permits, at the gates. Good for solo travellers and couples.
18-seater mini bus
Run from Turia gate, with the reserve's FAQ listing ₹510 per tourist, booked at the gate counter. The cheapest way into the core.
Private Gypsy, shared by your group
Roughly ₹10,100 per Gypsy on weekdays, up to six guests, so about ₹2,525 each for four people or ₹1,683 each for six.
How to book
- Permits open on MPOnline 120 days ahead (the portal releases the new date at 11 am).
- Full-vehicle and single-seat permits are both sold. A Gypsy carries up to 6 guests plus the driver and a compulsory guide.
- Current (same-day) permits are sold at the Turia, Karmajhiri and Jamtara gates: for the next morning between 6 and 8 pm the evening before, and for the afternoon between 9 and 11 am the same day.

Single-seat permits are only valid for 30 minutes after the scheduled entry time, against one hour for a full vehicle. Be at the gate early.

What about night safaris?
You'll still find websites selling "Pench night safaris". In 2022, MP's forest department ordered night safaris in its tiger reserves' buffer zones to stop, after the National Tiger Conservation Authority raised concerns about lights and noise disturbing wildlife. The reserve's own FAQ also says there's no night safari in the national park. Check the current position with us before paying anyone for one.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a shared safari in Pench?
Yes. On the MP side you can buy a single-seat permit and share a Gypsy with other visitors, and the reserve also lists an 18-seater mini bus from Turia gate, booked at the gate counter.
How much is the Pench mini bus safari?
The reserve's FAQ lists ₹510 per tourist for the 18-seater mini bus from Turia. Rates can change, so confirm at the gate counter.
How do single-seat permits work in Pench?
You book a seat rather than the whole Gypsy, and you share the vehicle with other single-seat visitors. A single-seat permit stays valid for only 30 minutes after the scheduled entry time, against one hour for a full vehicle.
Is there a night safari in Pench?
MP's forest department stopped night safaris in its tiger reserves' buffer zones in 2022 after concerns from the National Tiger Conservation Authority. Some websites still advertise them, so check the current position before paying anyone for one.
Is a shared safari or a full Gypsy better?
Shared seats and the mini bus are the budget choice for solo travellers and couples. A full Gypsy gives your group a private vehicle, more flexibility and a better experience for photography.
